Maney

The Circuz Lion

That Maney is Mildred Mousser’s kid brother but you certainly wouldn’t know it because they don’t look anything alike. I hear tell that they have different daddies. The way she carries on, it isn’t any wonder. Their mummy used to work at the Cannery before they shut down after the last flood. They say that Maney is a little touched in the belfry because he’s fallen out of his tree house way too many times and the Firefly Chief, Fredzer, says that he hopes Maney learns to stay away from the edge so he doesn’t keep falling out. I guess Maney is trying to get those shinny bright fruits out on the edge of the tree and simply is too big to hold on and falls right on top of his head each time. You would think he’d learn after the first couple of times not to go out so far, but guess he’s just fallen on his head one time too many and everything is scrambled eggs up above.

Maney got a job now and can pay his own way and doesn’t have to rely on his cheap sister, Mildred. Boy is she a hoity toity. Maney used to help her with the Boarding House but because he kept sneaking peeks in the rooms where those ladies stay she threw him out and made him stay in his tree house. I hear tell that she used to chase him all over the Boarding House with one of them there frying pans when she caught him in the room with Missy Maze. She knew that Mister Mayor would quit paying her for Missy Maze’s keep.

One time when the circus was in town, Skeekz asked Maney if he would like to be the lion in the circus. Robertzo, the ringmaster, needed another act and they wanted one with a lion. Of course, he said yes because he had no idea what that meant and you can talk Maney into anything. I hear tell that Maney wanted to travel to the other side and bought a ticket from Stumpy but when Mildred found out, Maney had to stay in his tree house for weeks and missed the travel day. So now he’s happy working in the circus and because he’s so big, he also works as a bouncer when his act is on break except that nobody is afraid of him because he’s not real bright.
